About Julie

Julie is a PACFA qualified psychotherapist and holistic counsellor, working Erina on the NSW central coast and online. She works with adults, particularly women, and using a holistic approach, she helps them reconnect to their inner strengths and wisdoms and build tools that can be supportive during challenging times.

Julie understands we all have our own versions of trauma, grief, conflict and hardship. Her holistic approach honours the mental, emotional, physical, and spiritual aspects that make each person unique. She provides a safe and trusting space to allow people to explore their own experiences and unfold their own unique path of healing.

Julie's approach draws on process oriented psychology, somatic therapy, systems theories, internal family systems and trauma-informed practice. This means sessions go beyond talk. She helps you understand the patterns driving your experience, connect with the parts of yourself that have been carrying old burdens, and find a steadier, more grounded relationship with yourself and others.

Julie has a particular interest in supporting women through identity shifts. These are the moments when life prompts reflection, change, or growth, and the familiar sense of self may feel unsettled. She helps women navigate these transitions with compassion, exploring what matters most and discovering new ways of being that feel authentic and aligned with who they are becoming.

She also supports adults who are discovering or coming to terms with a neurodivergent identity, including late diagnosis of ADHD or autism, and parents who are navigating family stress and the emotional weight of raising children in complex circumstances.

Julie’s approach is gentle, reflective, and collaborative, creating space to listen deeply, and move toward a life that feels authentic, grounded, and alive with potential.

how is psychotherapy different?

A gentle, collaborative approach

This isn’t about fitting you into a box or following a one-size-fits-all model.

It’s not prescriptive or focused on what’s “wrong.” Instead, psychotherapy is a collaborative process that creates space to explore your experiences, your relationships, and your connection to yourself and the world around you.

Anxiety, body sensations, dreams, and recurring conflicts are not just problems to fix. They can be meaningful signals from within. Often, they reflect a deeper sense that something is out of balance, or there is part of you that is wanting to be seen more.

Psychotherapy offers a gentle space to meet the parts of yourself that may have been overlooked, silenced, or set aside. It's a practice of noticing, listening, exploring and attuning to what arises within you, and to the patterns and beliefs that shape your life.

During therapy sessions, you may notice familiar patterns with fresh eyes, such as how you respond, where you hold back, and the gentle impulses that guide you toward change. With this awareness comes choice which brings with it the potential for moving through life with more ease and creating a way of living that feels authentic, hopeful, and fully yours.

Courage starts with showing up and letting ourselves be seen.

How we can work together

Navigating life's transitions

You might find yourself asking, “What next?”
For many women, especially in their late 30s and 40s, this question begins quietly but keeps returning. "Who am I now? What do I want in this next season of life?"  These questions often reach beyond the roles you hold as a mum, partner, or in your work, and touch something deeper about identity and direction. In our work together, we make space to explore these questions and to listen for what may be wanting to emerge in this next chapter of your life.

Anxiety, Overwhelm & Burnout

Anxiety doesn’t always look like panic. Sometimes it shows up as saying yes when you mean no, replaying conversations long after they’ve ended, bracing for something to go wrong even when things seem fine, or lying awake at 3am with a mind that won’t settle. Often anxiety is the mind’s way of trying to protect you, shaped by experiences and rules formed long ago. Together we gently explore these patterns and begin to find a greater sense of steadiness and calm in your life.

Late diagnosis of ADHD, Autism or AuDHD

A later-in-life diagnosis of ADHD, Autism, or AuDHD can bring many different feelings. Alongside clarity, there can also be confusion, grief, or years of self-criticism to untangle. Together, we explore your experiences with compassion and support you in reconnecting with your own unique way of navigating the world.

Frequently Asked Questions

Please email me at julie@julieanders.com.au if you cannot find an answer to your question.

Julie works primarily with adults,  particularly women in their 30s, 40s, 50s and beyond who are

experiencing anxiety, burnout, identity confusion or major life transitions. This might look like

feeling lost in your career, questioning your relationships, adjusting to motherhood (or deciding

not to become a mother), perimenopause/menopause, or simply sensing that the life you've built no longer feels quite like yours. She also supports adults who have recently received, or are exploring, a diagnosis of ADHD or autism, and parents who are navigating family stress and the emotional weight of raising children in complex circumstances.

Yes, and this is one of the most common reasons women come to see Julie. Many of her

clients arrive feeling like they've been so busy meeting everyone else's needs, or living out

someone else's idea of who they should be, that they've lost touch with themselves. This

might show up as anxiety, disconnection, irritability, or a quiet sense that something important is

missing. Julie creates a safe, unhurried space to explore what's underneath that feeling and to

start reconnecting with what you actually want and need.

Yes. Anxiety is one of the most common experiences Julie works with. This can show up as

constant overthinking, physical tension, people-pleasing, difficulty making decisions, or a

pervasive sense of dread that's hard to explain. Julie's approach doesn't just focus on managing

symptoms. Using somatic therapy and an integrated holistic apporach, she helps clients understand where their anxiety comes from, what it's trying to protect them from, and how to work with it rather than against it.

Life transitions are the times (planned or unexpected) when your sense of who you are or how you live your life shifts in a meaningful way. Julie supports clients navigating a wide range of transitions, including career changes, burnout, entering or leaving significant relationships, becoming a parent (or deciding not to), perimenopause and menopause, relocating, retiring, or simply outgrowing the life they’ve been living. These moments often bring a mix of emotions such as grief, relief, fear, and confusion, and therapy provides a safe, supportive space to explore them, gain clarity, and move forward.

Yes. Parenting can be one of the most identity-reshaping experiences of adult life. Julie works with parents who are feeling overwhelmed, disconnected from themselves, struggling with the emotional demands of raising children, or navigating complex family dynamics. She also works with parents of neurodivergent children who are carrying the particular kind of exhaustion that comes with advocating, adapting and worrying on behalf of a child whose experience of the world is different.

Yes, and this is an area Julie is particularly passionate about. Many adult - especially women - receive a diagnosis of ADHD or autism later in life, often in their 30s, 40s, or later. This late diagnosis can bring a complex mix of emotions: relief (“that explains so much”), grief (“I wish I’d known sooner”), and the chance to reframe your experiences and see your life with fresh understanding. Julie

offers a warm, affirming space to process what a neurodivergent identity means for you, your

relationships, your work, your self-compassion, and your sense of what's possible.
